NGX Friday wrap: a green close, but a narrow one

The streak is over. The NGX All-Share Index closed Friday up 0.13% at 248,363.55, its first green finish after 7 straight red sessions. Market cap rose ₦208bn to ₦161.26trn, and the YTD return is now 59.6%. Look under the hood, though: 25 stocks gained while 34 fell. A handful of names lifted the index while most of the board kept slipping, and the rebound only won back about 7% of the points lost since Sept 28. Top gainers: Regency Alliance +10% to ₦0.77, Livestock Feeds +9.58%, Guinea Insurance +9.41%. Top loser: Red Star Express -9.76% to ₦13.40, with Fidelity Bank and DAAR also among the decliners. Zenith Bank was the most traded stock. Volume dropped about 35% to 322m shares worth ₦20.5bn. Takeaway: one green day isn't a trend. Watch whether breadth turns positive next week before calling this a real recovery. How did your portfolio end the week? Add it on Gopexly and follow investors whose picks you trust.
