NGX wrap: 6th red day in a row, but a mild one
The NGX All-Share Index slipped 0.07% today to close at 250,096.75. That's six losing sessions in a row, but today's dip was mild, and the index is still up 60.72% this year.
What happened today:
• Breadth was negative: 36 stocks fell, 26 rose.
• Selling hit energy, banks and holding companies: Oando -3.23%, Wema Bank -3.02%, Transcorp -2.67%, UBA -1.22%.
• Tripple Gee topped the gainers' table again.
• Trading thinned out: 446.91m shares worth ₦22.92bn changed hands, with volume down about 23%. Zenith Bank alone was about 21% of the day's value.
My takeaway: this looks like slow profit-taking after a big year, not panic. The next real signal is Q3 results, which companies should release by the end of October. Before you buy or sell on this dip, check how the stocks you own did last quarter.
Which company's results are you waiting for most? Tell me in the comments.
